Talk to us
What types of window coverings are available?

There are various options, including blinds, shades, shutters, drapes, and curtains. Each type offers unique styles, materials, and functionalities to suit different preferences and needs.

How much is the initial consultation fee?

Save on Blinds offers free in-home consultations!

Will there be a sale?

Save on Blinds offers the best available price for the window coverings at the time of the consultation.  There may be additional in-home incentives that the consultant will let you know about at the time of the meeting.  Follow Save On Blinds on social media to stay aware of our current specials.

How do you choose the right size for my window coverings?

Save on Blinds measures the width and length of your window / area based on the application, obstructions and functions required.  We often measure to 1/16 of an inch. Save on Blinds takes the responsibility for accurate measurements for our clients and that is done at the time of the consultation.

Will you do the install?

Our highly trained team of technicians has decades of experience installing window coverings and we will ensure that the final product was as described by your consultant.

What is the difference between blinds and shades?

Blinds have slats that can be tilted for light control, while shades are typically made of a continuous piece of fabric that can be raised or lowered. Blinds offer more adjustable light control, while shades provide a softer, streamlined look.

Are motorized window coverings worth the investment?

Motorized window coverings offer convenience, especially for hard-to-reach windows or for those with mobility concerns. They can be integrated into smart home systems for seamless control. With recent changes in legislation, some manual operating systems are no longer available.

How do I clean and maintain my window coverings?

Cleaning methods vary based on the type of window covering. Blinds can be dusted or wiped down, shades can often be vacuumed, and drapes may require professional cleaning. Refer to specific care instructions for each product.

Can window coverings help with energy efficiency?

Yes, certain window coverings, such as cellular shades or insulated drapes, can contribute to energy efficiency by providing insulation and helping to regulate indoor temperatures.

What are blackout curtains or shades?

Blackout curtains or shades are designed to block out almost all incoming light. They are ideal for bedrooms, home theaters, or any space where you want to achieve darkness. However, light will creep around the edges of a window covering.  Additional accessories (curtains, side panels, channels) may be needed to get the desired effect.  The consultant will also let you know if your windows are not square which may impact the degree of darkness.

Can I get custom window coverings for uniquely shaped windows?

Yes, many manufacturers offer custom solutions for specialty-shaped windows, including arched, bay, or angled windows. Customization ensures a perfect fit and enhances the aesthetic appeal of your unique windows.
